Training
The Federal Public Defender is an approved provider of Continuing Legal Education (CLE) credits. Training is offered throughout the year on various topics including federal court trial and habeas practice for both Northern and Southern Nevada. The Office of Defender Services presents many programs on federal court practice and criminal defense (https://fd.org). How do I join the CJA Panel?
The United States District Court for the District of Nevada is accepting applications to the Criminal Just Act (CJA) Panel. Attorneys interested in appointment to the CJA Panel must submit a completed application and writing sample to NV_CJAResource@fd.org by August 1st of each year. Appointments will be effective November 1st of each year.
Applicants must be members in good standing of the bar of the United States District Court and must have demonstrated experience in the Federal Rules of Criminal Procedure, the Federal Rules of Evidence, and the United States Sentencing Guidelines. Applicants must have demonstrated an interest in providing criminal defense services and a reputation for competent and vigorous representation. Members of the CJA Panel are required to participate in six (6) hours of training in federal criminal practice each year.
