The Federal Defender is authorized and funded pursuant to the Criminal Justice Act, (“CJA”), 18 U.S.C. § 3006A, et seq. The Office of the Federal Public Defender, District of Nevada, was established in 1974. The district has two offices, located in Las Vegas and Reno.
Rene L. Valladares has been the Federal Public Defender for the District of Nevada since 2011. He is an adjunct professor at the UNLV Boyd School of Law and a part-time instructor at the UNLV Criminal Justice Program.
